Edith Chaney

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Edith Irene Chaney, 87, of Chaffee passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 27, 1922, at Chaffee, to the late Lawrence and Louisa Glastetter Westrich. Edith married Gilbert "Gib" Chaney in March 1939. He preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1981.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond (Mary Ann) Chaney and Kenneth (Eileen) Chaney, of Bethalto, Ill.; a daughter, Anna (Jerry) Williams of Chaffee; a brother-in-law, M.C. (Frances) Chaney of Eureka, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Pansy Campbell and Norma J. Cook of Morley, Mo.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Armella Emerson; and a brother, J.W. Westrich of Nokomis, Ill.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jack Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
