EAST PRAIRIE -- Eddie L. Childers, 85, of East Prairie, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1992, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Aug. 2, 1906 in Alamo, Ky., son of John Cody and Louella Nanny Childers. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Wolf Island Baptist Church in Wolf, Island, Ill.
On Sept. 8, 1927, he married Joy V. Collins. She preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 1991.
Survivors are six sons, Paul, Wayne, Tim and Billy Childers, all of Sikeston, Jerry Childers of Chaffee and Mike Childers of Austin, Texas; three daughters, Sue Husk of Cape Girardeau, Mary Hamilton of Sikeston and Betty Edsall of Morehouse; 34 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, one grandson, four brothers and five sisters also preceded him in death.
Friends may call today after 2 p.m. at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Herbert Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
