SIKESTON -- Edd H. Ergle, 78, of Matthews died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born in Winston County, Ala., on Oct. 10, 1920, son of Arthur and Savannah Horton Ergle. On Sept. 13, 1952, he married Essie Mae Johnson in Piggott, Ark. She died Jan. 4, 1991...

SIKESTON -- Edd H. Ergle, 78, of Matthews died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born in Winston County, Ala., on Oct. 10, 1920, son of Arthur and Savannah Horton Ergle. On Sept. 13, 1952, he married Essie Mae Johnson in Piggott, Ark. She died Jan. 4, 1991.

He had worked as a farmer and was a former resident of Lilbourn. He had been a lifelong resident of New Madrid County.

Survivors include one stepson, Joe Smith of Rockford, Ill.; three brothers, Floyster Ergle of Jonesboro, Ark., James Ergle of Mountain View, Ark., and Lee Ergle of Sikeston; six sisters, Gertrude McCoy, Charlotte Tidwell and Juanita Ergle, all of Matthews, Pauline Metheny of Canalou, Edith Grainger of Sikeston, and Ruby Lucero of Ottawa, Kan.; and two stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Willie Ray McCoy, his nephew, officiating. Interment will be in Matthews Cemetery.
