MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Eathel Maurine Clay, 84, of Marble Hill died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at her home. She was born June 27, 1922, at Dexter, Mo., daughter of Roger and Lessie Marie Brashear Peck Vaughn. She and Franklin Leonard Clay were married June 27, 1963...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Eathel Maurine Clay, 84, of Marble Hill died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at her home.

She was born June 27, 1922, at Dexter, Mo., daughter of Roger and Lessie Marie Brashear Peck Vaughn. She and Franklin Leonard Clay were married June 27, 1963.

Clay was a graduate of Palmer College. She worked 20 years at Fansteel Factory in Chicago. She was a member of United Steel Workers more than 20 years, was a hospital volunteer, and a member of New Sylvan General Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Allan Clay of Rango, Ga., Steven Clay of Newport, N.C.; two daughters, Frances Foster of Cedar Hill, Mo., Brenda Stanley of Morley, Mo.; three sisters, Nadine Thornhill of Grassy, Mo., Janice Hays of Scopus, Mo., Martha Jill of Perryville, Mo.; 22 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother, a sister and a grandson.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Sheldon Owen and Gene Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
