BERNIE, Mo. -- Eathel May Blackman, 104, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter, Mo.
She was born May 14, 1897, in McLeansboro, Ill., daughter of Wesley Baker and Matilda Richardson Bond. She and Earl Blackman were married April 17, 1913, at Bloomfield, Mo. He died Sept. 26, 1964.
Blackman was a teacher at White Oak School near Bernie several years. She was a member of Sugar Tree General Baptist Church where she served as secretary/treasurer 30 years. She served as secretary/treasurer for the General Baptist Association 40 years.
Survivors include two sons, O.E. Blackman of Bernie, Delmer Blackman of Dexter; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four daughters.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery.
