Earnest Lee Owens, 77, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at his residence. He was born May 25, 1933, in Lexington, Tenn. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a sister, Vivian Barks of Cape Girardeau; and nieces and nephews, Misty Stewart-Mims, Judy Clubbs, David Owens, Dalen and Zander Stewart, all of Cape Girardeau, Doris Hill of Desloge, Mo., and Kay Bailey of Alabama...

Earnest Lee Owens, 77, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at his residence.

He was born May 25, 1933, in Lexington, Tenn.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a sister, Vivian Barks of Cape Girardeau; and nieces and nephews, Misty Stewart-Mims, Judy Clubbs, David Owens, Dalen and Zander Stewart, all of Cape Girardeau, Doris Hill of Desloge, Mo., and Kay Bailey of Alabama.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, J.C. Owens and Floyd Frazier; and two sisters, Flossie Powers and Carlene Brooks.

A graveside funeral was held Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, with the Rev. John Nimmo officiating.

Burial was at Mount Gilead Cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.

Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden was in charge of arrangements.
