SIKESTON -- William Earl Sullivan, 76, of Sikeston died Saturday, March 30, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born July 25, 1919, at Harrison, Ark., son Frank and Rosie Pitts Sullivan.

He and Lucille Box were married Dec. 20, 1938, at Benton.

He was employed as a truck driver for Malone and Hyde for 37 years until retiring. He later worked in the receiving department for the Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Sikeston. He served as a U.S. Marine during World War II.

Sullivan was a member of the Calvary Temple Church in Sikeston and a member of the Disabled American Veterans chapter in Sikeston.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Earl "J.R." Sullivan and Haskell "Hack" Sullivan, both of Sikeston; two daughters, Shirley I. Shirkey and Brenda Guth, both of Sikeston; a nephew raised in the home, Tommy Franklin Johnson of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a brother, Benjamin Sullivan of Sikeston; two sisters, Lorene McConnaughhay of Gladewater, Texas, and Mary Spence of Matthews; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Calvary Temple Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Dan Stoffel will officiate, with burial at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
