CANALOU -- Funeral service for Earl R. Jones, 79, of Canalou, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Mike Cartwright will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jones, 79, died Monday, May 30, 1994, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews.

He was born June 18, 1914, in Dover, Ark., son of Robert James and Mary Bell Ross Jones. He and Loyal Marie Partain were married Dec. 2, 1933, in Dover. She died June 10, 1993.

Jones had been a janitor and bus driver with New Madrid County Schools from 1951-76. He was a member and deacon at Canalou Assembly of God Church, and had served as Sunday School superintendent and song leader.

Survivors include a son, Dale Jones of Marion, Ark.; three daughters, Eva Jones of Matthews, Sue Malloy of Canalou, Ruth Sanders of Advance; a brother, Max Jones of Whittier, Calif.; two sisters, Tess Bibler of Russellville, Ark., Clara Branch of Dover; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, daughter, granddaughter, four brothers and three sisters.
