Earl S. "Mac" McClanahan, 74, of Festus, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 14, 1928, at Festus, son of Leonard A. and Alice May Davis McClanahan. He and Betty J. Haney were married at Festus.
McClanahan was formerly of Cape Girardeau and Marquand, Mo., Livingston and Madison, Ill.
He was a longtime teacher, high school basketball coach and principal at Madison Middle School. He was a member of Church of Our Lady at Festus and its Young at Heart Club, St. Mary's Booster Club, Festus-Crystal City Conservation Club, Knights of Columbus Council 1230, and Illinois Federation of Teachers.
McClanahan served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathy Johnson of Mahomet, Ill., Linda Lonigro of St. Louis; a son, Michael McClanahan of Southlake, Texas; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
Friends may call at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Church of Our Lady, with the Rev. John Kerber officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
