BELL CITY -- Earl Franklin Weeks Sr., 90, Bell City Route 1, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born July 28, 1901, in New Madrid County, son of George C. and Ada Henry Weeks. He and Harriet I. Branum were married Dec. 7, 1921, at New Madrid. She died Oct. 7, 1987.
Weeks farmed in the Bell City area nearly 50 years. He was a member of Tanner Street Church of God at Sikeston, and attended the United Methodist Church here. He had taught Sunday School at both churches.
He was a member of Scott-New Madrid-Mississippi Electric Co-Op board 27 years, serving as president six years. He was a member and president of Bell City School Board, a member of M&A Electric Power Co-Op board at Poplar Bluff, and a founding member of Farm Bureau Service Co. in Advance.
Survivors include two sons, Earl Weeks Jr. of Chillicothe, Ronnie Weeks, Bell City Route 1; a daughter, Cleona Hartwell of New Madrid; two sisters, Sally Keasler of Poplar Bluff, Ann Crews of Malden; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters and a grandson.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bell City United Methodist Church. The Revs. Jim Robinson and Jerry Turner will officiate, with burial in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens at Morley.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance after 5:30 p.m. today, and then at the church from noon until time of service.
