Dylan Preston Sparks, 28, of Millersville passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2020. He was born July 28, 1992, in Poway, California, to Jason Sparks and Leatha Bartels. Dylan Preston Sparks, 28, of Millersville passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2020.

He was born July 28, 1992, in Poway, California, to Jason Sparks and Leatha Bartels.

Dylan received his high school equivalent in January 2010. Soon after he started his career as a deck hand at Hunter Marine Barge Line in Paducah, Kentucky. He enjoyed his work on the river, was successful and well respected.

In September 2016 he married his wife, Leah Marie Holshouser. He then made the decision to pursue his dream and carry on his family's legacy and serve his country in the U,S. Army as an infantryman. Dylan and Leah were stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and he served one tour in Afghanistan.

Dylan was preceded in death by his daughter, Eden Amelia Sparks.

Survivors include his wife, Leah Marie Sparks; four loving parents, Leatha (Jimmy) Bartels and Jason (Lori) Sparks; three siblings, Elizabeth, Jake and Brett Sparks.

Dylan was blessed with a loving extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Dehne officiating.

Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family to offset funeral expenses.
