A celebration for Dylan Joseph Polen, 21, of Jackson beginning his eternal life in Heaven, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Cape First Church in Cape Girardeau, where he was a member. The Rev. Gary Brothers will lead the celebration.
The church will be open at 1 p.m. for friends to call.
Dylan was welcomed home by God in June 2004 while in the state of Georgia.
He was born Dec. 28, 1982, in Woodward, Okla. His parents are Cindy and Robin King of Jackson and Jeff and Barb Polen of Perryville, Mo.
He had been employed at Journey's in Cape Girardeau, and most recently by Michael Evans Roofing Co. in Jackson.
In September 2003 he moved to Atlanta, Ga., to begin missionary work at Mission Year. In January 2004 he left Mission Year and began work with Grapevine Ministries and New Life Covenant Church in Atlanta. He was also volunteering at Boys and Girls Club of America in Atlanta.
Surviving are his parents; two sisters and nephews, Dana King and Landon of Jackson, Tara King and Cory of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, a sister-in-law and niece, Greg and Dawn King and Heaven of Cape Girardeau, Bobby King of Indianapolis, Ind.; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Blankenship of Benton, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Polen of Jackson and Mary Brown of Hanna City, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a paternal grandfather.
