THE VILLAGES, Fla. -- Dwight Curtis Nunn, 62, of The Villages went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Florida Hospital South, Orlando, Florida.
He was born in Tipton, Indiana, but lived most of his life in Thebes and Tamms, Illinois.
He graduated from Egyptian High School in 1971. He then took a "summer" job in the marine industry, working on a river boat, that lasted over 35 years! He worked for Exxon Mobile most of those years, then with Kirby Corp. He worked his way up and eventually became a certified mechanical engineer.
He enjoyed helping and coaching his son's Little League team when he wasn't out on the boat. As a boy, he went to a St. Louis Cardinals game and loved the team and sport since, enough to have a tattoo on the side of his right calf!
He was an avid KISS fan and an old rock and roller who knew his history of classic rock, even with his memory loss from strokes. His other passion was golfing, which was a big reason he and his wife moved to Florida in 2013.
His greatest attributes were his laid-back attitude and his sense of humor and harassment that will be missed by so many, as well as the wonderful way he had of storytelling. But most of all, it was the love and respect he showed to the women in his life.
He is survived by his son, Kaleb (Deanne) Nunn, and grandson, Theodore Nunn, of Portland, Oregon; a stepson, Roman Christopher (Eve) Langston, and their four child of Colorado; his sister, Kelly (Brian) Elledge, and their two children, Will and Leah Elledge, of St. Charles, Missouri; and four uncles, Ralph (Joyce) Ogelvie, Thomas Ogelvie of Dexter, Missouri, Charles (Gloria) Ogelvie of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Bobby (Mary) Hausmann of Connecticut. He also is survived by three aunts, Betty (Al) Kreiger of Troy, New York, Linda (Bob) Vetter of Eldred, Illinois, and Mary (Jim) Lee of Hardin, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Calvert) Nunn of Thebes, Illinois. They reconnected in 2004 after having dated in her junior year of high school and early 20s. They truly were soul mates, best friends and had a special love for one another. They were married in June 2008 and resided in Washington before moving to Florida in 2013.
He also is survived by her daughters, Danielle (Adam) Zehnder and their son, Devin Rosales, and Heather Ruff, all of Bellingham, Washington; her brother, Kenny (Adrienne) Calvert of The Villages; her twin sister, Sherri (Tom) Marlo of Waterloo, Illinois; her sister, Angela (Scott) Richard, and sons, Christopher and Dustin Richard; and her half-brother, Michael (Kristie) Calvert of Mount Vernon, Washington, and sons, Dustin and Dylan Calvert.
Surviving on the Foutch family side are Dwight's stepbrother, Eddie (Cathy) Foutch of Cape Girardeau; uncle, Jay (Charlotte) Foutch of Roxanna, Illinois; aunt, Barbara Shelton of Jackson; and uncle, Ernest and Carolyn Stevenson of Thebes.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Foutch, and stepfather, Samuel E. Foutch; grandparents, William and Ruth Hausmann; grandfather, Ernest Ogelvie; and grandmother, Laura Stevenson.
A celebration of his life will be held from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 18 at The Red Bud Winery in Red Bud, Illinois. Those attending are asked to wear St. Louis Cardinals or KISS shirts or just casual attire in his honor. Baseball food will be served. RSVP by Friday at Evite.com (password Dwight 2016), or see wonderful pictures and comments about Dwight's life.
