DONGOLA -- Dwain Johns, 68, of Dongola died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at Veterans' Affairs Medical Center in Marion.
He was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Lima, Ohio, son of Ray and Cleta Bowman Johns. He and Jodean Powles were married on Dec. 8, 1956. She died July 15, 1995.
Johns was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as an illustrator and draftsman. He later served 10 years in civil service for Navy Intelligence.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Johns of Mill Creek; a daughter, Debra Pfaff of Villa Ridge; three sisters; and seven grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, brother and sister.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 5 to 8 p.m. today and on Tuesday until time of services.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jimmy Wilson will officiate, with burial in St. John's Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
