Duane "Pete" Goodheart, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at his home.
He was born June 21, 1941, in Chinook, Montana, to Ervin Joseph and Nellie Mildred Miller Goodheart. He and Saundra Gammons were married June 12, 1992, in Cape Girardeau.
Pete served in the Army from 1961 to 1964. He was stationed in Munich before the Vietnam War.
He was a carpenter in the construction field. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 and was of the Catholic belief.
Survivors include his wife, Saundra Goodheart of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Mark Duane (Stacey) Goodheart of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Thomas Joseph Goodheart of Jackson; a daughter, Tammy Bergman of Mount Vernon; two stepdaughters, Nicki (Doug) Kraust-Schmitt of Millersville and Madeline (Tony) Garcia of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Carol Cornete of Lodi, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Makenzie, Madison and Morgan Goodheart, James and Chelsea Bergman, Chris Kraust, Randi Shipman, Asa Conrad, Samantha and Solomon Garcia; and two great-grandchildren, Isla Shipman and Temperance Bergman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at VFW Post 3838.
