Dr. William H. Stewart, 81, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Mounds, Ill., died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at the Lutheran Home. He was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Mounds, son of John F. and Ada Wesenberg Stewart. He was married to Peggy Stewart, who preceded him in death in 2005...

Dr. William H. Stewart, 81, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Mounds, Ill., died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Mounds, son of John F. and Ada Wesenberg Stewart. He was married to Peggy Stewart, who preceded him in death in 2005.

Stewart was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.

He was a retired dentist, receiving his undergraduate degree from St. Mary's University of Texas, and his dental degree from St. Louis University. He was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Ruth Stewart; two grandsons, Caleb and Joshua Stewart; a granddaughter, Charis Stewart, all of Cape Girardeau; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Jill Lawler, and a nephew, Matt Lawler, all of Mounds; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time today at Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge, Ill.
