A long-time physician, Dr. Paul Edward Kratz, 74, 1720 Cecelia, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Dec. 2, 1919, at Carrollton, son of John Edward and Alva Mae Stanley Kratz. He and Virginia Brinkmann were married June 12, 1943, in Washington, Mo.
Kratz graduated from Carrollton High School, and had been an Eagle Scout. He attended Central College at Fayette, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia. He did his internship and residency at Kansas City General Hospital No. 1.
He practiced in Columbia City, Ind., from 1950-54, and had practiced in Cape Girardeau since 1954.
Kratz was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Cape Girardeau Area Medical Society, American Fertility Society, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Association of Laparoscopists, Missouri Medical Society, American Medical Association, and Wakanda Masonic Lodge 52 AF&AM in Carrollton.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul C. Kratz with the U.S. Navy in London, England; three daughters, Robin Brown of Cheyenne, Wyo., Betsy Lohmann and Karen Moore of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Coralyn Morrow of Kansas City, Everetta Dikeman of Carrollton, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel, with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
