DR. O.E. JOHNSON

ANNA, Ill. -- Dr. O.E. Johnson, 91, of Anna, died Tuesday, March 17, 1992, at Union County Nursing Home.

He was born Oct. 17, 1900, at Centerville, Mo., son of Thomas and Alice Mann Johnson. He and Elsie Hartline were married June 15, 1926, at Anna.

Johnson graduated from Washington University Dental School in 1924. A retired dentist, he practiced in Anna 60 years, including 24 years at Anna State Hospital.

He was a member of Southern Illinois Dental Society, Anna-Jonesboro Elks Lodge, Lions Club, Anna Masonic Lodge, and Ducks Unlimited.

Johnson served on the board of directors of Anna National Bank from 1954-76. He was a former board member of Anna-Jonesboro High School, and past member of Anna Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gerald Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a brother, Ray Johnson of Ellington, Mo.; three grandsons, and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Chapel in Anna. The Rev. Chris Erdmann will officiate, with burial in Anna Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
