CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Memorial service for Dr. David J. Clark, 3 Starwood, will be held at noon Friday at First Christian Church. The Revs. Wallace Brown and Tracy Carroll and Chaplain Art Kelley will officiate. Private burial will be in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-7 p.m. today.

Clark, 45 years old, died Tuesday, March 5, 1991, at his home.

He was born March 8, 1945, in St. Louis, son of Chester and Ruth Ownby Clark. He and the former Jacklyn Slonecker were married Sept. 2, 1967, at Trenton.

Clark graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine.

He was a general surgeon, and had been associated with Cape Girardeau Surgical Group for more than 12 years.

He was a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, a member of the local society of the Missouri State Medical Association, and a member of the American Medical Association.

Clark was currently district director of American College of Surgeons, and secretary of Missouri State Surgical Society.

In 1990, Clark received the Physician's Recognition Award given by the American Medical Association and the Missouri State Medical Association for his efforts to further medical education.

He was a member of First Christian Church, where he was a board member and a past elder.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John, a student at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Travis, a senior at Central High School; two brothers, Michael Clark of St. Louis, William Clark of Palmetto, Fla., and a sister, Ruth Cardon of Sarasota, Fla.
