CAIRO, Ill. -- Dr. Carrie L. Dinwiddie, 94, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Cairo, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Keepsake Village of Columbus. She was born April 19, 1911, in Tupelo, Miss., daughter of Dave and Josephine Murry Hopkins. She and Oscar E. Dinwiddie were married Dec. 29, 1929. He died Nov. 27, 1995...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Dr. Carrie L. Dinwiddie, 94, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Cairo, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Keepsake Village of Columbus.

She was born April 19, 1911, in Tupelo, Miss., daughter of Dave and Josephine Murry Hopkins. She and Oscar E. Dinwiddie were married Dec. 29, 1929. He died Nov. 27, 1995.

Dinwiddie was a former teacher in Illinois schools, and retired from Northside Middle School in Columbus. She was a member of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Doris Edge of Columbus; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons and two brothers.

Friends may call at Christ Temple Church in Cairo from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Terry Holder officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds, Ill.

Heavenly Gates Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
