SIKESTON -- Dr. Alden Pack Sargent, 88, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Jan. 17, 1912, at Kamas, Utah, son of Lorenzo and Mercy Pack Sargent.
He married Evelyn Virginia Smith June 19, 1942, at Evanston, Wyo. She died Aug. 9, 1995.
He attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and Brigham Young University at Provo, Utah.
He was graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1943.
He served his internship at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., where he entered into private practice. After three years, he moved his practice to Sikeston where he retired in 1989.
He was one of the original staff doctors at the Sikeston Hospital, which later became the Missouri Delta Medical Center. He had served as chief of the medical staff at the hospital.
He was active in local and state medical societies and was a member of the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons.
He also was a member of the Al Chymia Shrine Temple in Memphis.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints.
Survivors are a son, Dr. Richard Sargent of St. Louis; a daughter, Kay Field of Sikeston; two brothers, Dr. John Sargent of Sikeston and Val Sargent of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Sarah Sheetz of Salt Lake City; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow at the Rehobeth Cemetery in Roellen, Tenn., at a later date.
