CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Funeral service for Doyle R. Gaither, 407 E. Cape Rock Drive, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today. Masonic service will be held at 7.
Gaither, 88 years old, died Sunday, April 7, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Aug. 8, 1902, at Zalma, son of Lon and Maggie Eaker Gaither. He and the former Azalee Beckman were married June 17, 1925, in Jonesboro, Ill. She died Jan. 4, 1974.
Gaither worked at International Shoe Co. here, moving to Detroit, Mich., in 1942 where he was a tool and die maker. He retired in 1963 and moved to Clearwater, Fla. He moved to Jackson in 1973, and to Cape about 10 years ago. He was a member of Red Star Baptist Church and St. Mark's Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a brother, Lloyd Gaither of Cape; two sisters, Pearl Young and Wanda Hesse of Cape; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother and two sisters, Ruby Schumer and India Baker.
