ADVANCE, Mo. -- Doyle Gene Miller, 73, of Amarillo, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009.

He was born July 3, 1936, near Advance, son of William Marvin and Wilma Ann Miller.

Doyle graduated from Advance High School in 1954 and joined the Air Force, proudly serving his country in Japan until 1958.

He became a member of the Church of Christ while in the military. Upon discharge he moved to Amarillo to attend a Bible school at West Amarillo Church of Christ, where he met and married Charlotte Ford on July 29, 1960.

He went to work in 1963 for Mitchell Electric, where he was employed in sales management more than 35 years.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Charlotte; a daughter, Tina Hardie and husband Raymond of Gaines County, Texas; a sister, Phyllis Miller Richbourg and husband Wayne of Chaffee, Mo.; a brother, Wayne Miller and wife Carol, whereabouts unknown; two grandsons, Joshua Hardie of Hobbs, N.M., Isaiah Hardie and wife Amanda of Murietta, Calif.; two granddaughters, Autumn Hardie Weaver and husband Kris of Windsor, Mo., Miriam Hardie of Gaines County; two great-granddaughters, Amber and Shaley Hardie.

He was anxiously awaiting the arrival of another great-granddaughter in September. Doyle is also survived by his beloved dog, Charlie, who has been a wonderful companion.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Baptist Church in Rum Branch, Mo. Bill McDowell and Gary Devault will officiate.

Schooler Funeral Home in Amarillo is in charge of arrangements.
