TAMMS, Ill. -- Douglas A. Honey, 80, of Tamms died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at home.
He was born July 26, 1937, in Olive Branch, Illinois, the son of Earl and Jewel (Phillips) Honey. He married Edna DeLashmutt on Sept. 30, 1961.
Douglas was a farmer and heavy-equipment operator his entire life. He took a break from farming for four years while he served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was one of four brothers making up Honey Brothers Incorporated.
He was a life member of the former Lake Milligan Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Honey; daughter, Donna (Dave) McCain of Olive Branch; son, David (Lisa) Honey of Olive Branch; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Justin) Schultz, Joshua McCain, Stephanie Curtis, Matthew (Jacquelyn) Honey and Emily (Brent) Sayer; eight great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Coy Schultz, Ashton, Alleigh, Abbigayle Curtis, Addilynn Ashman, Asher Sayer and Mattelyn Honey; brothers, Terry (Rachel) Honey and Gary Honey, both of Tamms; sisters-in-law, Ruth and Anne; aunts, Pauline and Thelma Vick; nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Delmar "Red," Glenn and Darrell Honey.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clint Nale officiating. Interment will follow in McCrite Cemetery in Tamms.
Memorials may be made to McCrite Cemetery, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
