CHAFFEE, Mo. -- William "Doug" Hamm, 79, son of the late William Avery Hamm and Dorothy Elizabeth Walter Hamm was born on May 11, 1942 in Little Blue, Missouri, and departed his life on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, at his home in Chaffee.
On July 5, 1961, he was united in marriage to Shelby Jean McVay in Oak Ridge. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2013.
William was a retired operator with Southeast Missouri Stone in Cape Girardeau and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include three brothers, Jack Hamm, Sr., Glen (Nancy) Hamm, and Mark (Brenda) Hamm, all of Scott City; three sisters-in-law, Martha Hamm of Chaffee, Maryanna Schweer of Benton, Missouri and Marilyn Jansen of Leopold, Missouri; by one brother-in-law, Billy McVay; also, by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Hamm and Bruce Hamm.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday with the Rev. Randy Morse officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery near Commerce, Missouri.
