MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Dorothy Fern Updegraff, 93, of Marble Hill passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, at Chaffee (Missouri) Nursing Home.
She was born July 6, 1927, in Columbia, Missouri, daughter of Sidney and Gladys Stover Morris. She and Samuel Daniel "Bud" Updegraff were united in marriage April 21, 1944, and he passed away Oct. 31, 1980.
Dorothy and her husband owned and operated Updegraff Grocery Store in Marble Hill. She also was a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She and Bud were charter members of Kimbeland Country Club. She was also a member of numerous bowling leagues, including Bowlette League and Women's Traveling League. For many years, she and Bud would travel to Sarasota, Florida, for winter vacation. Lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fans, she and her husband had season tickets at the Old Sportsman Park. They were also fans of the St. Louis Cardinals football team.
She loved spending her time with her family, whom she dearly loved.
She is survived by her brother, Delbert (Anna) Morris of Marble Hill; sister-in-law, Shirley Morris of St. Louis; grandchildren, Robin (Shawn) Brazel of Jackson, Danny (Kristen) Deck of Jackson and Candee (Lee) Nickell of Kansas; great-grandchildren, Cody Brazel (Jackie Lynch), Dylan Brazel, Kate Deck, Kole and Krue Deck, Dawn Thomas, Len Fowler, Austin Nickell and Kelsey (Clayton) McAfee; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Bud Updegraff; parents; daughters, Catana Regnier and Linda Rapp; and brother, Sidney "Gene" Morris.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Shrum officiating. Burial will follow in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
