MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Dorothy Harlow Taylor, 89, of Marble Hill died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, at her home.

She was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to H. Aungus and Edith Whitlock Harlow.

She and Dwight A. Taylor were married Dec. 13, 1980, at Centenary United Methodist Church.

She graduated from Mount Vernon Township High School and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Dorothy retired Dec. 31, 1994, after 20 years with Spartech Group, more than 13 years as executive secretary, office manager and corporate secretary of Atlas Plastics, and more than six years as customer service manager of the Resin Exchange (Spartech Compounding).

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church since Dec. 13, 1959. She was a past Sunday school teacher for second and seventh grades, past circle leader and past volunteer receptionist. She was the past president of Mount Vernon Junior Woman's Club; past Girl Scout leader; past president of Girardot Chapter, Professional Secretaries International (first Certified Professional Secretary in 1979 in the Cape Girardeau area) and tutor at the Cape Girardeau Adult Learning Center. She volunteered at Southeast Hospital and was the auxiliary president in 2009 and 2010. She received the Margaret Foster Roberts Leadership Award in 2014.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, playing piano, crossword puzzles, racquetball and aerobics (back in the day), Trivial Pursuit and, most of all, playing with the little ones.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn (David) Christensen of Vidor, Texas, and Debra (Chuck) Nenninger of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Mark (Deborah) Bradley and Allen (Laurie) Taylor, both of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Sarah (Bill) Fisher of Wilsonville, Oregon, John (Stefanie) Taylor of O'Fallon, Missouri, Matthew (Brittany) Taylor of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Christopher (Katie) Christensen of Orange, Texas, and Jeremy (Christine) Christensen of Vidor; 12 great-grandchildren, Corbyn, Annika, Teaghan and Charli Fisher of Wilsonville, Christopher, Leighton, Madden and Kinsley Christensen of Orange, Graham Christensen of Vidor, Hailey and Chase Taylor of O'Fallon and Jaxson Taylor of Kenosha; sister, Wilma Wilt of Pomona, California; nephew, Jim Barger of Sacramento, California; niece, Shelly (Gene) Gant of Danvers, Illinois; nephews, Rob Wilt of Mount Baldy, California, and Bill Wilt of Claremont, California; and many of Dwight's loving family who were so dear to her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Steven Curtis Bradley; grandchild, Chip Nenninger; sisters, Maxine (Harold) Barger and Genita (Sterling) Osborn; nephew, David Barger; brother-in-law, Dick Taylor; and sister-in-law, Evelyn (Mitt) Matlock.

A memorial service will be held Sept, 10, with time and place to be announced.
