DOROTHY SHEFFER SEVERS

METROPOLIS, Ill. -- Dorothy Sheffer Severs, 91, of Metropolis, formerly of Pulaski, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Metropolis.

She was born Nov. 20, 1906, at Ullin, the daughter of Albert Houston and Celia Johnson Summers.

She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Pulaski and a homemaker.

She married Arthur Sheffer, who died in 1964. She then married John Severs. He died in 1986.

Survivors include a son, Raymond Sheffer of Metropolis; two daughters, Violet Davidson of Metropolis and Phyllis Lingle of Edwardsville; a stepson, Jim Severs of Pulaski; a sister, Opal Should of Metropolis; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and a son.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and from 8 a.m. to the funeral hour on Tuesday.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

The Rev. Herman Painter will officiate. Burial will follow in the American Legion Cemetery at Dongola.
