Dorothy L. Schuessler, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, April 1, 2022, at her home.

She was born Aug. 13, 1940, in Menfro, Missouri, to Walter and Erna Hopfer Hoehn. She and Gene Schuessler were married June 22, 1958, at Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown, Missouri.

She was a 1958 graduate of Perryville (Missouri) High School.

Dorothy and Gene Schuessler were the owners and operators of Advanced Pest Control, which originated in 1980.

She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel, where she was active in the choir and Ladies Guild, and served on many, many church boards.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Schuessler of Cape Girardeau; a son, Gary (Penny) Schuessler of Chaffee, Missouri; three daughters, DeBorah A. (Chris) Gross of Cape Girardeau, Dawn L. (Tim) Altenthal of Kirkwood, Missouri, and Deanna Niederkorn of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren, Dustin (Kendra) Gross, Cassie (Ed) Myers, Kyle (Tina) Schuessler, Courtney (Trey) Palish, Caleb (Natalie) Niederkorn, Katie (Rob) Mitchell, Seth (Karlee Beggs) Niederkorn, Tyler Altenthal, Jacob (Mistie) Ressel and Megan (Ben) Sample; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, John Niederkorn; two brothers, LeRoy Walter and Calvin Paul Hoehn; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Franke and Betty Schuessler; and in-laws, Bernhard and Nelda H. Schuessler.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Weston Wildauer officiating. Burial will be at Point Rest Lutheran Cemetery in Menfro, Missouri.

Memorial contributions may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel, 1904 W. Cape Rock Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
