CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Dorothy A. Pattengill, 93, of Charleston died Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

She was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Campbell, Missouri, to the late Andrew J. and Minnie Pearl Williams Harris. She was raised in Campbell and graduated from Campbell High School in 1939 as an honor student.

After graduation, she worked in Malden, Missouri, until her marriage in 1942. She then moved with her husband to Caruthersville, Missouri. In 1945 they moved to Charleston.

Dorothy was secretary at First Baptist Church in Charleston, later worked in the county clerk's office in Mississippi County, Missouri, and was president of Ralph Pattengill Farms Inc. at the time of her death.

She was a member of Junior Women's Study Club, a Cub Scout leader, vacation Bible school teacher, Sunday school teacher, Girls Auxiliary leader and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Charleston.

She and Ralph M. Pattengill were married May 2, 1942. He preceded her in death March 5, 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra P. Todd of Springfield, Virginia; two grandsons, William Michael Todd and wife Christy and Ryan C. Todd and wife Audrey, all of Elkhorn, Nebraska; four great-grandchildren, Kathleen "Katie," Michaela, Rafe and Merida Todd of Elkhorn; five sisters-in-law, Alice Hopper and Evelyn Zimmerman of Cape Girardeau, Ruby Hitt of Oak Ridge, Marie Nettles of Yuma, Arizona, and Janet Harris of Acworth, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Pattengill; a son-in-law, retired Cmdr. William Thomas Todd; four brothers, Harlan, Lindell, Wendell and Andrew "Jack" Harris; six sisters, Alma Harris, Bessie Gardner, Ruby Watson, Velma James, Jean Borders and Faye Jaeger; four brothers-in-law, Rex, Paul, Lawrence and Lee Pattengill; and two sisters-in-law, Gladys McCullum and Pauline Brock.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Rev. Gerald Collier, interim pastor of First Baptist Church in Bertrand, Missouri, will officiate. Interment will be in IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be Lee, Bill, Boyd and Joe Pattengill, Michael and Ryan Todd. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry James.

Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 442, Charleston, MO 63834, or a charity of one's choice.
