RALEIGH, N.C. -- Dorothy A. Niswonger, 97, of Raleigh died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009. A memorial service was held Dec. 29 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Raleigh. Born in Missouri, she spent much of her adult life in Raleigh. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devout Christian and served in many capacities in the churches to which she belonged. She was a fun-loving person, loved by people of all ages...

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Dorothy A. Niswonger, 97, of Raleigh died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.

A memorial service was held Dec. 29 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Raleigh.

Born in Missouri, she spent much of her adult life in Raleigh. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devout Christian and served in many capacities in the churches to which she belonged. She was a fun-loving person, loved by people of all ages.

She is survived by a son, Don Niswonger and his wife, Carol, of Naperville, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Betty Niswonger of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Amy Osswald of Woodstock, Ill., Deb Caldwell of Raleigh, Mark Niswonger of Charleston, S.C., Becky Beech of Apex, N.C., Diane Edmundson of Wilson, N.C., their spouses; 12 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Niswonger, and a grandson, Scott Niswonger.

The family would like to express thanks to those who gave loving care at Litchford Falls Healthcare and Rehab.
