RAYTOWN, Mo. -- Dorothy Hulsey, 69, of Raytown died peacefully at her home Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 18, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, the youngest of seven children of Bertha and Percy Farrar. Her fondest childhood memories were playing with her sister Margie, cooking with her mom and delivering eggs with her daddy.
Dorothy was a 1967 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau
She married Bob Hulsey, the love of her life, April 19, 1975. They had two children, Gabriel Hulsey of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Elizabeth (Hulsey) Forlow of Blue Springs, Missouri.
Dorothy retired from the Missouri Department of Youth Services in Jefferson City. Never one to stay idle, she did seasonal work for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City, Missouri, until her death. She cherished the friendships she made at both the state and the IRS. Dorothy's absolute favorite job was being a wife and a mother.
She leaves her husband, Bob Hulsey; son, Gabe and his wife, Becky, along with their daughters, Emma, Riley and Addison; daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" and her husband, Kenny, and their children, Jacob and Kyle. She also leaves behind her nephew, Gary Stone and his wife, Melissa, and their children, Mariah and Ben; sisters, Geraldine Stone and Margaret Farrar; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Hope Luebbering Hulsey; and brothers, Paul, Glenn Farrar, Eugene "Gene" and Arthur Farrar.
Dorothy's family would like to thank Dr. Aimee Kohn and Dr. Susan Herzberg and the entire St. Luke's East Cancer Team for the kindness and care they extended to Dorothy and her family throughout her cancer treatment. They would also like to thank Great Lake's Caring Hospice for the care provided Dorothy while she was on hospice.

A visitation and funeral service were held Thursday at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society in Raytown. Arrangements for services in Cape Girardeau are still being made.
