CHARLESTON -- Dorothy Dilworth Barrett, 86, of Charleston died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, at the Miner Nursing Home.

She was born March 10, 1913, at Cahoma, Miss., daughter of Bennie and Minnie Humpheries Dilworth. She and Edward W. Barrett were married Dec. 13, 1941. He died May 9, 1997.

She retired from the Charleston School District as a teacher, was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, the Charleston Branch of NAACP and the Shiloh Baptist Church in Charleston where she served on the board of trustees and was church pianist for many years.

She is survived by a nephew, Peter D. Price of Jonestown, Miss.; and two nieces, Dorothy Williams of Maywood, Ill., and Marion Neal of Chicago.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the Shiloh Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. today at the church.

The Bishop James Whitfield will officiate. The burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the National Cemetery at Mound City, Ill.

Sparks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
