Doris Ann Oberle, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the home of her daughter in Juneau, Alaska.
She was born March 6, 1929, in St. Mary, Missouri, to Lawrence and Agnes Braun. She married Leroy "Rip" Oberle on Sept. 21, 1949, in St. Mary. He preceded her in death June 20, 2011, after 62 years of marriage.
She was a loving mother of four who was also very active in her parish, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, belonging to several organizations including Marriage Encounter, Cursillo, Mission Club, Association of St. Francis De Sales and St. Vincent Ladies Council, as well as volunteering at Birthright for 32 years. She did all this while working the lunch hour for many years at the Blue Hole barbecue restaurant.
Doris and Rip loved to travel, taking yearly family vacations with their four children. They later traveled to Europe and Hawaii before embarking on their yearly visits to Alaska.
Doris is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Jay) Oberle-Satterfield of Juneau; two sons, Chris (Robin) Oberle of Cape Girardeau and Jeff (Barb) Oberle of St. Ann, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Oberle; her parents; two brothers, Glennon and James Braun; two sisters, Barbara West and Janet Ringwald; and her great-grandson, Rhyan Miles.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass for Doris Ann Oberle will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations in Doris' name be given to the Alzheimer's Association.​ Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
