Doris Long

BENTON, Mo. -- Doris Ann Long, 67, of Benton died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 29, 1944, in Danville, Ill., to Robert and Nellie Kennedy Gore. She and Arvel Omer Long were married Jan. 4, 1972, in West Lebanon, Ind. He preceded her in death Dec. 7, 2006.

Doris was a certified nurse assistant.

Survivors include a son, Arvel Lee Long of Benton; four brothers, John Gore of Wisconsin, James and Steven Gore of Tucson, Ariz., and Thomas Gore of North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery at Benton.
