McCLURE, Ill. — Donna Faye Smithey, 64, of McClure died Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at her home. She was born in Cape Girardeau to Robert S. and Laree Smithey Sr. of McClure. McCLURE, Ill. — Donna Faye Smithey, 64, of McClure died Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at her home.

She was born in Cape Girardeau to Robert S. and Laree Smithey Sr. of McClure.

Donna was a lifelong member of McClure United Pentecostal Church.

She worked for 25 years for JCPenney in Cape Girardeau, from which she retired.

Donna was an accomplished piano player and singer, singing at several churches and for many other occasions.

Her favorite pastime was finding new gospel songs so she could play and sing them in church and other religious events.

Donna graduated from Shawnee High School and then went to Cape Business College, where she earned her certificate in business.

She loved collecting books, fine china, dolls and postage stamps.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy D. Smithey of McClure; brother, Robert S. (Gayla) Smithey Jr. of Jonesboro, Illinois; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Alice Smithey Skiles, Carolyn Smithey Matlock and Sharon Smithey Hines-Turner.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum,

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the mausoleum, with the Rev. Greg Morrison officiating. Entombment will be at the mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of choice.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
