William Donald Yount, 94, of Cape Girardeau went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, to Everett and Lizzie Belle Martin Yount, who preceded him in death.

He and Mildred Ketcherside were married Aug. 25, 1943, and celebrated 70 years together in 2013.

Donald accepted Christ as his Savior in October 1938 and became a member of Leadwood Baptist Church in Leadwood, Missouri.

In March 2000 he and Mildred moved to Cape Girardeau and became members of Lynwood Baptist Church.

Donald served in the U.S. Army in World War II, 1943 through 1946, with the 70th Infantry Division in the United States, England, France, Alsace and Germany as a combat infantryman.

Survivors include his son, Grady Yount and wife, Christy, of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Kirk Yount of St. Charles, Missouri, and Eric Yount and wife, Krista, of Harrisburg, Missouri; and two great-granddaughters, Hadley Yount and Kellyn Yount. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Yount of Fenton, Missouri, and many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Georgia Yount; three brothers, Delmon Yount, John Yount (Myra) and Robert "Bob" Yount (Mary); and one nephew, Steve Yount.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Leadwood Cemetery, with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be given to Lynwood Baptist Church.
