ANNA, Ill. -- Donald W. Casper, 94, of Anna, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 1995, at City Care Center.
He was born Oct. 17, 1900, in Cobden, son of L.L. and Blanche Waite Casper. He and Veva Bishop were married Aug. 6, 1921, in Anna. She died Aug. 22, 1988.
Casper owned and operated a fruit orchard from 1925-70. He then marketed peaches at a roadside stand at the Orchard Home until 1976. His family started the fruit growing business in 1823.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, member of Casper Cemetery Board many years, life member and past president of Illinois State Horticulture Society, and member and past president of Southern Illinois Horticulture Society.
Survivors include a son, William Casper of Carbondale; two daughters, Martha Pharis of Manteno, Mildred Cunningham of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Shacklee officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery.
