Donald Parkin Thomasson, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at his home.
He was born May 17, 1925, in Columbia, Mo., son of Robert R. and Lelia Parkin Thomasson. He and Carolyn McEwan were married Aug. 17, 1980, in Lexington, Ky.
Donald grew up in Columbia and was a 1950 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia Law School. He was a student in the V 12 program.
He was prosecuting attorney in Bollinger County from 1951 to 1955, then joined the practice of Stonewall Jackson, and later formed the practice which is now Thomasson, Gilbert, Cook and McGuire.
Donald was a member of Lions Club, American Bar Association, Cape County Bar Association, International Barristers, Jefferson Club at the University of Missouri, Missouri Athletic Club and Men's Garden Club.
He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Cape Girardeau Library Board, and the Veterans Administration Board when the Missouri Veterans Home was established. He was a history buff.
Donald served three years in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lane Thomasson of Cape Girardeau, Anne Thomasson of St. Louis; two brothers, Gerald Thomasson of Roseburg, Ore., and Ray Thomasson of Denver, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Public visitation will be held at the family home at 701 Bellevue from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Robert Towner officiating. There will be no reception following the service. Inurnment will be private at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
