GRASSY, Mo. -- Donald Roy Sifford, 68, of Grassy, formerly of Lexington Park, Md., passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at his home. He was born May 25, 1944, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of Roy Everett and Mildred Naomi Trotter Sifford. Donald retired in 2005 after 40 years of government service: 20 years in the U.S. Navy and 20 years in support of the Department of Defense. He enjoyed various hobbies but his favorite was fishing with his children, grandchildren and dogs...

GRASSY, Mo. -- Donald Roy Sifford, 68, of Grassy, formerly of Lexington Park, Md., passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at his home.

He was born May 25, 1944, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of Roy Everett and Mildred Naomi Trotter Sifford.

Donald retired in 2005 after 40 years of government service: 20 years in the U.S. Navy and 20 years in support of the Department of Defense. He enjoyed various hobbies but his favorite was fishing with his children, grandchildren and dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Winnis Hinkle Sifford; two daughters, Melisa (Richard) Burgess of California, Md., and Amanda Sifford of River Ridge, La.; two sons, Douglas Stephens of Walnut Grove, Mo., and Owen (Carrie) Stephens of Burke, Va.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and two sisters, Norma Hartman and Linda Sifford.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Mo.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Shrum officiating. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery at Essex, Mo., with full military rites.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Association, St. Louis Regional Chapter, 2258 Weldon Parkway, St. Louis, MO 63146.
