COBDEN, Ill. -- Donald Gene "Bacon" McCann, 68, of Cobden died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Cobden, son of Paul W. and Bertha B. Messamore McCann. He and Norma Jeanne Adams were married April 3, 1958, in Jonesboro.
McCann was a certified counselor for alcoholics, retiring in 1991. He was a veteran, member of First Baptist Church and ANNA VFW Post 3455.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Heidi Basler of Cobden, Paula Stearns of Anna; a son, Mark McCann of Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Willard McCann of Jonesboro; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden from 6-8 p.m. today, and Saturday until service time.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Clifford Heil and Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 3455.
