CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Donald R. Jones, 71, of Chaffee, formerly of Flora, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003. He was born July 6, 1932, to Billie M. and Ida Jane Ramsey Jones. He married Betty Marie Baxter April 18, 1971 in Charleston, Ill. She preceded him in death.
He was a retired mechanic for Cessna Aircraft. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Flora Ruitan Club and D.A.V. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond Lee Jones, Bobbie Gene Jones, and Billie Richard Jones, all of Griffith, Ind.; one daughter, Theresa Ann Jones, of Gary, Ind.; one stepson, Frankie Shrakes of Fort Scott, Kan.; three sisters, Inis Fain of Martinsville, Ill., Doris Wooden of Salem, Ill., and Robert Washburn of Flora; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora. The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. Graveside services with military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan.
