Donald Ralph Hicks, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born Jan. 14, 1946, in Caruthersville, Missouri, to Frank and Eva Wood Hicks.

He was first married to Tomi Sample. He then married Brenda Todt-LaRose on Jan. 3, 2005, in Cape Girardeau.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.

He was a member of Local Union 150 of Illinois. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie 3775, Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838.

His passion was playing pool, and he was a member of the American Pool Players Association. He was a wonderful husband and loving father. Donald enjoyed being a handy man for his family.

Survivors include his wife; son, Edward Hicks of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Tina Lockhart of Perryville, Missouri, Penelope (Paul) Laurentius of Jackson and Melanie Hicks-Hercik of Cape Girardeau; two stepdaughters, Tracy (Shawn) Bollinger and Kim (Adam) Newman, and stepson, Ryan (MaKenzie) LaRose, all of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Dorothy Renfroe of Whitesboro, Texas, and Earlene Wallace of Oklahoma City; three half brothers, Paul and Malcom Hicks, both of Cape Girardeau, and Tom Hicks of Georgia; two half sisters, Gwen Gipson of Alabama and Debbie Stanwood of Illinois; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Frank, J.R. and Cletus Hicks and Joe Marvin Conway.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with a memorial service following at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be held at a later date.
