MATTHEWS -- Funeral service for Donald E. Hammock Jr. of Matthews will be held at 11 a.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Dewayne Coleman will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.

Hammock, 52, died Monday, Aug. 21, 1995, in the Emergency Room at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 3, 1942, in Chaffee, son of Donald E. and Winifred "Wink" Turner Hammock Sr. He and Jane E. Evans were married Dec. 25, 1961, in Canalou.

Hammock was a 1960 graduate of Morehouse High School and veteran of the U.S. Army.

He had been office manager at Leray Transport Co. in Matthews the past nine years. He formerly worked at Malone and Hyde in Sikeston and Delta Asphalt Co. in New Madrid. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Canalou.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Don Hammock III of Cleveland, Ohio, Jon Hammock of New Madrid, Chet Hammock of Matthews; his parents of Morehouse; a brother, David Hammock of St. Louis, and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter last week, and a sister.
