RIVERVIEW, Fla. — Retired Senior Master Sgt. Donald Ferdinand Brickhaus, 78, of Riverview went to be with the Lord Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at The Sun City Center Hospice House in Ruskin, Florida.
He was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Perryville to Raymond Henry and Mildred Nurcena Hoffman Brickhaus.
He and Janet Sharon Loberg Brickhaus were married May 27, 1967, in Perryville. She preceded him in death July 15, 2024.
Donald enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on June 18, 1964, as a fuel specialist and deployed to Vietnam in 1966. He served in the logistics career field for 21 years at various supervision and management levels. He subsequently served as a first sergeant for six years. His decorations include Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Upon retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Wallis Oil Co. in Cape Girardeau as a fuel transport driver for several years.
Donald accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior later in life and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Avon Park, Florida.
Survivors include his daughter, Dana Sue Lane of Riverview; son, Duane Ray Brickhaus of Lithia, Florida; and grandchildren, Courtney Brooke Lane, Danielle Rae Brickhaus, Brendan Joseph Lane, David Ryan Brickhaus, Joshua Riley Brickhaus and Jessica Ruth Brickhaus. He is also survived by two sisters, Norma Jean Wengert of Perryville and Carol Ann Raines of Scott City.
Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife and parents.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the funeral home, with Pastor David Pringle officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
