Charley "Don" Michelsen of Oran, son of Charley E. and Faye Bacchus Michelsen, was born July 9, 1948, in St. Louis and departed his life Friday, March 1, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 75 years. Don was a member of Laborers Local No. 282 in Cape Girardeau. He then worked as a car salesman in the Cape Girardeau and Sikeston areas before opening Michelsen Motors in Cape Girardeau in 1997. Charley "Don" Michelsen of Oran, son of Charley E. and Faye Bacchus Michelsen, was born July 9, 1948, in St. Louis and departed his life Friday, March 1, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 75 years.

Don was a member of Laborers Local No. 282 in Cape Girardeau. He then worked as a car salesman in the Cape Girardeau and Sikeston areas before opening Michelsen Motors in Cape Girardeau in 1997. He retired in 2009. Don enjoyed spending time with his family.

On Oct. 21, 1967, he was united in marriage to Shirlee Ann Menz in Oran. She survives of the home in Oran.

Besides his wife, survivors include one daughter, Sherri (Chris) Grojean of New Hamburg; two grandchildren, Tara (Justin) Modglin of Scott City and Lindsey (Landon) Grojean of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Maggie Modglin of Scott City; two sisters, Bonnie Dover of Cape Girardeau and Sharon (Mike) London of Baldwin, Illinois; and other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Michelsen, and three sisters, Velma Thompson, Mari Matthews and Betty Thele.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday, March 5, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Celebration of life service will then be conducted at noon that day at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to St. Louis Children's Hospital.
