Dolores Mary Gerhardt, 82, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, in St. Louis.

She was born May 22, 1935, in Cape Girardeau to the late Walter Howard Linebarger and Rose Wissmann Linebarger.

She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University and then joined the Navy. While serving in the Navy, she worked in naval intelligence at the Pentagon and held the rank of lieutenant junior grade.

After her service, she returned to Cape Girardeau to the university to pursue a degree in nursing. During her long career, she worked as a nurse and an administrator of health care facilities. She was a natural caretaker and brought loving care and comfort to many.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Joyce Nussbaum and Nancy Stone; a son-in-law, Randy Farrar; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Olivio; eight grandchildren, Kristen Borthwick, Gabrielle Horseman, Nathan and Amelia Farrar, Katelyn and Julia Hargraves and Maddison and William Gerhardt; six great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews. She was loved and cherished by all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reginald Gerhardt; a daughter, Victoria Farrar; a son, William Gerhardt; a brother, Howard Jean Linebarger; and a grandson, Jesse Oaks Farrar.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Eric Schmidt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
