Dick N. Gregory, 73, of Whitewater passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at his home with his family nearby.

He was born July 8, 1941, in Patterson, Missouri, son of Raymond and Lora Cline Gregory.

He and Mary King Pettigrew were married July 30, 1994, in Jackson.

Dick served in the United States Navy from 1958 until 1962.

He worked in the auto body and railroad industry, and at Newell Rubbermaid in Jackson.

Loving survivors include his wife of 20 years, Mary; two daughters, Lisa and Sandy Gregory of Missouri; four sons, Steven, Richard, and Bradly Gregory of Missouri, Eric Northcutt of Illinois; two stepsons, James Pettigrew of Missouri and Brian Pettigrew of Tennessee; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, and great-stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Bea (Walter) Hodecker and Joann (Randy) Bannister; mother-in-law, Willie Mae King; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill; and a special nephew, Tex Dace.

Friends may call Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ollie Boyd officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, with full military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the church or charity of your choice.
