RALEIGH, N.C. -- Diane Michele Scully, 76, formerly of Jackson, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021, at a family home in Raleigh. Diane had been residing in Raleigh the past several months.
Diane was born Feb. 23, 1945, in St. Louis to Dolores Bruder Apollo. She was married June 18, 1976, to Patrick Scully. Together, they raised four loving children, Lisa, Nick, Renee and Gina. They had been married nearly 39 years when Patrick passed away Feb. 11, 2015
Diane was a 1963 graduate of Corpus Christi High School in Jennings, Missouri. After marrying Pat in 1976, they moved to Jackson to raise their family.
Diane enjoyed a 20-year career as office manager at the former Jackson Transfer Co. and later worked five years for Transportation Security Administration in St. Louis.
She was actively involved in the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Jackson Noon Optimist Club and the former Franciscan Program. She had a special passion for animals, wildlife and nature, often contributing and volunteering to benefit such charities.
A lifelong Catholic, Diane was a dedicated, longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson and, when Patrick passed away, she assumed his role in attending weekly Perpetual Adoration in the chapel at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Diane was generous and thoughtful and was a dedicated homemaker. She loved her children dearly and was very proud of them.
Diane will be missed by her children, Lisa (Tom) Gehrin of Cary, North Carolina, Nicholas (Anna) Matulewic of Portage Des Sioux, Missouri, Renee (John) Boone of Merritt Island, Florida, and Gina Scully and husband, Campbell Rodgers of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Daniel Gehrin, Jessica Gehrin, Kristen Gehrin, Lauren Boone and Nathanial Boone; a brother-in-law, Vincent (Sharon) Scully of St. Peters, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Ann Marie (Ken) Borgmeyer of Florissant, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Scully, and her mother, Dolores Apollo.
To celebrate Diane's life, the Rev. Randolph Tochtrop will celebrate funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Aug. 21 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
Diane will privately be laid to rest with Patrick at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis.
