ANNA, Ill. -- Diana L. Dodd, 85, of Anna died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at her home.
She was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Anna, daughter of John Frederick and Gladys Spires Lentz. She and Kenneth W. Dodd were married Oct. 30, 1943, in Santa Ana, Calif.
Dodd was a 1937 graduate of Anna-Jonesboro High School, and received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southern Illinois University.
She was assistant superintendent of schools for Union County until 1943. She later taught at Dongola and Anna-Jonesboro high schools.
After receiving a master's degree she joined the English staff at SIU and taught for 28 years. She established a basic skills program for students of English that eventually included reading and math.
Survivors include her husband; two half sisters, Sarah Sinclair and Clara Westmoreland of Marshall, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Jonesboro Cemetery, with the Rev. Joe Aldridge, Carol Kroeger and Pat Moller officiating.
Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
